1. Raw materials
Just as textiles require plant fibers, the production of non-woven fabrics also requires fibers. The raw fiber that can be used is mainly polypropylene (PP). Polypropylene particles are used to melt and shape, and high melting refers to polypropylene fiber material, which is the core raw material for the production of masks.
2. Manufacturing process
There are many manufacturing processes for non-woven fabrics, including spunbond, meltblown, hot rolling, spunlace, etc. The middle interlayer of a general surgical mask uses a non-woven fabric manufactured by a melt-blown method.
3. Electret treatment, enhanced filtering
Qualified mask fabrics not only have a reasonable fiber structure, but also improve their own filtering ability, that is, electrostatic adsorption.
The melt-blown non-woven filter material of the filter layer must undergo electret treatment to achieve 95% filterability without changing the breathing resistance, so as to effectively prevent viruses. The mask should ensure comfortable ventilation while achieving the barrier effect. The inhalation resistance of medical masks is generally not more than 343.2Pa, and the inhalation resistance of civilian masks is less than 135Pa.
4. Disinfection treatment
After the masks leave the factory, they also need to be disinfected. If it is an ordinary mask, it does not need to be disinfected, but for medical use, the manufacturer needs to use an ethylene oxide (EO) disinfection cabinet for disinfection. Put the mask in a 400mg/L ethylene oxide environment, and use alkylation to act on the hydroxyl group to inactivate the microbial macromolecules to achieve the purpose of sterilization. However, ethylene oxide is not only flammable, but also toxic to the human body. Therefore, it needs to stand for 7 days for analysis after sterilization. After the EO residue is lower than the required value, it can be packaged and delivered to the medical staff.
